I haven't been to the forums in almost a year. I do get updates from Artya periodically, mostly about the site updates. Just curious if sales and traffic have improved any. I am getting ready to list items  but wondered if traffic has improved from outside the Artyah Ranks. There is a lot of unrest over at Etsy and I think  many are wanting to expand or move else where. The push for Free Shipping is making many people angry. I am sure a lot of you are there too and know this. Anyway, I have given my full attention to Etsy this year with no improvement in sales. I am ready to devote some serious time here if I can actually make some sales. Any of you oldtimers see an increase in traffic? Thanks for any help.

Debbie

I left Etsy in June/July 2017 over the forced EP system. I was there for 9+ years and did quite well.  I then opened two shops here with a total of 370 vintage listings.  I have had 0 sales.  Updates of when "Artyah 2.0" will be ready have stalled.  I'm extremely discouraged.  I had such high hopes and going in everything seemed to be going in a very positive direction.  This is ONLY my experience.  I'm sure there are other shops that are making sales.  I'm looking for other options now.  I'm not a quitter, but...

Looking at the items in my active list, I am getting views but no sales in quite a while. Artyah is just not a known shopping site or has not been promoted by management. The new site improvements will not bring sales if customers are not being directed here. I could say that perhaps it is the quality of my product but when I have moved an item from Artyah to my "other site", it sold in one listing period. The traffic is just so much larger "over there".
Social media works only so far for the sellers to drive traffic to Artyah.
I also came in June 2017 and have made enough on Artyah from sales to cover monthly expenses and listings. When the outgoing is greater than the incoming, it will be time to make a business decision.

Hi Debbie

Like Martha, I also left Etsy in 2017 over the forced EP system, and I also did quite well on etsy.  I started listing here in July of 2017.  I have had 2 sales here since opening my shop but no record of my sales on my shop page, one reason I am not re-listing again.  I am of the opinion that sales give buyers confidence and are important as a shops history. Numbers should be on a shop page and not disappear like the feedback can if a shopper leaves the site.   I also have decent views but it could be from other shop owners because we have no statics for that.  At least Zibbet gives me traffic sources so I have a little idea where it is coming from.

Almost all search results lead to Amazon or Etsy no matter what you search for.  They are THE giants dominating the internet.  So unless  this site is promoted by management, it could be missed in searches. My listings on Artyah never come up in a search when I check.   The Artyah updates are slow and the new site build started a year ago that I noticed.  I will keep an eye on this site but will keep my shops where I have free listings, no site fees for sales, and on ebay which is good exposure and I have free listings but it is expensive if I sell.

Good luck Debbie with whatever you decide to do.

Julie

I like to see what is going on once in awhile and read the forums. Today I was very surprised to see the Lavender banner still up. Not only that it took forever for the front page to load. There was a big difference today. Well it is now Halloween in 3 days, it has been Autumn for awhile and we are rolling into Thanksgiving soon......Spring and Summer lavender is not promoting or updating the seasons.

I agree, Tina. At first I thought it was beautiful. Now it feels passe.
I know management is busy with many things and I don't need or expect them to be spending time and money on a new banner. The priority is to promote Artyah as a shopping center.

good point, Tina.  People check just to see changes or a new look, it keeps them interested and coming back.

I, too, was at Etsy until they started with EP system. I did well there also. This seems like a nice place to sell, quiet but alas, no traffic. Just like Bonanza. These places have great potential but it's always up to the sellers to get the word out.

A little advertising goes a long way. Word of mouth doesn't always work.

I'm sure people makes sales here but it few far and inbetween from what I've been noticing.

If you had a site like this, wouldn't you want to get it out there? I don't get it.[confused]

Me neither! I keep listing and re-listing, but it's in danger of becoming the 'Style Unique' show, especially where earrings are concerned, and no sales since last year!

I joined Artyah over the summer.  I had high hopes, as I thought I had found a smaller platform that values the handmade artist. But just like the other few small marketplaces I'd joined this year, I've become quite disillusioned with the lack of traffic, which seems to be a common thread running through each and every last one of them.  I don't profess to know what will improve growth, but I have a feeling that promotion has something to do with it.  Yes, there have been quite a few grumblings on the Etsy forum over all the frequent changes, including the new financial setup.  We humans despise change, but we need to change in order to grow.  I certainly don't know enough about      business to criticize; I'm just paying 'rent' for the privilege of showing my wares.  I began selling at the end of 2013 and this year, has been the best yet.  Sales are up 40%, and my revenue is up 50.  I don't say this to brag; I'm just saying that for every shop that isn't doing well, there are also shops, that are. And I had a sale here on Artyah last week; so I'm hoping it's a sign that things are taking a positive turn.  Or at least I will hope it is, for us all.

The idea of using many baskets to hold the eggs certainly applies to having online shops.
However if the basket keeps breaking and wont hold any eggs, maybe it is time to examine if it is worth keeping that basket.
By all means, hold onto the basket that serves you well.
I have said before that no customer will be too worried about the site platform if they do not even know that the site exists.
One sale here or there on Artyah at least covers renewal fees. I'm willing to sit out on the limb for a bit longer.
