As Artyah's advertising budget is still small  and it is largely up to us as sellers to bring in customers so I thought it might be an idea to have a thread dedicated to free or cheap advertising ideas

Blogging - if you can write a blog about Artyah  - maybe if someone has a popular blog they could interview Craig ?   I am thinking as I write here - maybe we could create a list of questions and everyone who has a blog could post it ?

Social Media - posting our own and others items and sharing and reposting and commenting

Free Ad Sites - in the UK we have the  Friday-Ad  this is free to advertise in online for items under a certain amount.  I only thought of this yesterday and put in an ad using my artyah shop link as the contact to see if they would accept it, they did.

There are other advertising sites - if you know of any please post them

Everytime I post an order I now have a note on the envelope about Artyah.com in the case of my nail art stickers which go out in flat envelopes I put a tiny picture of one of my paintings as well and say that it and others are available.   Before this I created stickers that I stuck on every order .

How are you advertising Artyah and do you have any ideas that the rest of us could use - do you know anyone we could get to interview and publish it about the site (providing Craig agrees of course [biggrin] )

I have quite a few customers  and a number of repeat customers elsewhere ... and yes, Art Yah is included on all my business cards passed out and about.

This list from 2016 includes Art Yah but it really needs to be updated: http://www.businessnewsdaily.com/5287-etsy-alternatives-handmade-sites.html

Than there is this list from 2017 doesn't have Art YAh at all but maybe Craig or you Christine whom have more knowledge  can put in a good word about Art YAh ... http://wahadventures.com/places-sell-handmade-crafts-online-free/

I have my domain name set to redirect to my shop here.

There was one problem with that, however.  I tried to get my google adwords account to forward to my Artyah shop; but google won't play with a redirecct.

And, unfortunately, google won't work with http://www.artyah.com/seller/barkrock either.  It ignores everything after the first "/", and I'm simply paying to send all my shoppers to the main Artyah page.  I mean, I do like it here and everything...but I simply can't afford to pay to promote the site in lieu of my own shop!

I sure do wish barkrock.artyah.com would work!

Mention this to Craig, or first try contacting Google via  https://support.google.com/adwords/contact/approvals as they may be able to advise you.

Had to go back to Etsy for this.

If you look in discussions and go way, way, way-y-y-y-y back to some of the first discussions of 2005 when they first started ... much of what people are talking about here is the same. Is Art Yah ever going to take off, anyone with sales? etc. I didn't join Etsy until Feb. 2009 after the mad excess from Ebay. Think my first sale was several months later. With that I really didn't concentrate on selling on Etsy until several years later even after joining, because of working full time. But once I did start focusing on listing much more, ... exactly what I must do here ... my sales really took off. YES, it does take a lot of work and time especially if your a one person show like many of us are.

What I did find interesting tho' there was a thread about Etsy not going to do any advertising on google ... Craig has already invested in advertising here, now how positive is that. It's only going to get better and I also think many of the sellers coming here are much more savvy in getting the word out about Art Yah than many of us did when we first started on other sites.  That has to have a positive influence, too.

So everyone best of luck -- hang in there ... keep producing, listing and by all means have fun with with this new endeavor.  Ü ~byEmilie~

Don't forget to carry a stack of your new business cards when you wear your new Artyah T-shirt.

I know that several people also sell at craft fairs so, possibly creating business cards or flyers with your shop URL or maybe a small print "check out Artyah.com" on the bottom somewhere may help or maybe even going to vistaprint & getting an inexpensive banner made up to add to your craft booth or table can help..especially during the Holiday season when Fall & Winter craft fairs are in full swing.. all the little steps count..

A banner is nice, I would think that something shoppers can take home (business card or flyer) will have better results than just a banner. They aren't going to take out pen and paper to write down an unknown URL.
