Not sure why I was sent this email.

One line in it reads :

"This is an open plea from ArtYah to all sellers that do not want to be on ArtYah and do not wish to support us."

I am a member here. I do not currently have anything listed. Is that why I was sent the email?

Not sure what the purpose of the email is.

I just checked my email and saw the same one you received.  I'm sure it was sent to everyone registered on ArtYah.  It is a little confusing, but my assumption is that some sellers have been getting angry about receiving multiple emails, possibly thinking they are being spammed, and some are unhappy with the site and want to leave.  I think Craig is trying to let people know they are welcome to leave the site if they want to, they just need to request that their shop and account be closed.  Craig might see this tomorrow and clarify.  Again, this is purely a guess, but maybe Craig has received a few emails today with rants about the site.

I think Michele is right that this a an e-mail for everyone. Active or not, Admin did not want to leave anyone out of the message. And I think Artyah is honorable in saying that if this site does not suit your needs, they understand and will help you to end the association here. I do believe that Craig and his staff are doing their very best. I can only imagine their level of frustration at times like this.

I agree with you!  Craig has again been very transparent.  His latest email asking us to decide if we want to be here or not is nothing short of trying to engage with his sellers, which is an awful lot of work, let alone mental anguish.  I think his actions are honorable and clear.  And I hope sellers will decide what they want to do.

I have been selling online for over 12 years & TOTALLY understand the frustrations on the admin side and the seller's side but I take offense at this e-mail. I was an early joiner, promoted as much as possible, started pin boards, etc. but have found 3 shops are too much. This one has the slowest sales for me. I have never been a negative poster and often contributed to the earlier funds requests but saying
"We do not want people on ArtYah that do not wish to support us" is unfair and unnecessary. And of course you'll "oblige" us if we wish to close and we can leave if we want? Really?! if admin's problems delve into bullying and negativity  this site will never succeed. We all have lives and do what we can but this e-mail offends me. I'm gone.

I would really give Craig and his staff a bit of slack on this e-mail given the stress they are under right now. I'm sure if it had been written a couple of weeks ago, it would have been worded differently. I feel there was not deliberate intention to be offensive or bullying. I will just keep breathing. Wow. See that? I can breathe! Things could be worse.

This email was very confusing.
What are we deciding on?
Old or new platform- is it still the plan? An update within the email would've been helpful.
Who is not welcome- what are the premises of not being supportive - must we have active listings? Can we wait and see? Does the account (we paid $5 for) expire if not listing?
So many questions.
I feel like if a site wants to make it big, all communication needs to be well thought out and customer friendly, as all people- current loyal sellers, hopeful sellers, potential sellers (and just customers? Did buyer only accounts receive this email too?) - might re-evaluate their interest and commitment and making them feel confused and unwelcome can't possibly be the best plan.

I wish this venue well, always have and will, but am very confused and unsure who is welcome here and what constitutes as- "This is an open plea from ArtYah to all sellers that do not want to be on ArtYah and do not wish to support us."- ... support how?

I was waiting for the new platform to give it a bump and a good try, as I do not have the time to list on a site, that's going to be replaced anyway ... is that what the email is talking about?

Definitely confused.

Hi Nodsu, the site itself will not be replaced.   Think of for instance, Windows 7 updating to Windows 10 - it is the same for you, all your data (should) be there and you do not have to move it but the programme itself is updated.        The same will happen with Artyah, we will not have to redo all our listings, they will be migrated onto the new platform once it is ready so we should have our items ready for sale now so that the seller and customer base can build up before the update happens.  Think of it as an update, not a new site.                  (sorry about no paragraph spaces, my line space button and a few other things on my computer have  ceased to work which is a real pain)

Yes! I sort of did, probably worded my thoughts wrong - it just feels like before it happens and all the needed updates are in place, it's more work for a sleepy venue, than I am able to carve out.
Thank you, Christine! :)

I think the email was rude and obnoxious and didn't need to be posted. I did not take it as " Craig is trying to let people know they are welcome to leave the site if they want to". Puleeze... I think everyone knows we have free will to leave any site that we want to when we want to.. Look at the ones here who left Etsy to come here.. We have free will people.

I might be in the minority and I think I am here. But I LOVE Etsy.. I do fairly well over there. I have no intentions of leaving there. I am able to transition with changes made on any site I am on.. I also don't have my eggs in one basket.. I am able to have more than one shop in a variety of places. That is not to say I can't love other sites as well. This site might demand too much. I can't just have loyalty to one site and dismiss the others as the email and the forum post seems to require.

And while I understand that it is a hard job to get a selling site up and running.. the customer service in the forum post about manufacturing and the email was sorely lacking in that. I don't know what I will do at this point in regards to Artyah. I would hope the site would pick up some and be the great place one hopes it could be..but I think that Craig just shot himself in the foot over this. I am not the only one who is annoyed.

If certain comments offend the owners, don't read them, but for goodness sake don't throw a little tantrum for the whole world to see!
