Due to the inability to deactivate/reactivate at no extra charge here, unlike other venues, I have occasionally "ended early" then relisted.  When you want to relist, it does NOT give you the option to edit first...you must relist as you first listed.  This means if you did the extra $0.50 for featured seller, and/or $0.25 for their sale banner, it charges those all over again.

So not only do you have to pay the $0.10 to relist, you automatically have to pay all the extras once again, whether you want them or not.  I was shocked to see my updated bill and find that some of my "relist" fees are costing $0.60, even $0.85, rather than $0.10!

Needless to say, I will not be using this system to end and relist anymore if I go to a craft show....neither "E" venue charges if you reactivate a listing, AND they give you the chance to edit the listing first.

Sorry to sound upset, but I am.  (I guess they expect you to edit the listing BEFORE you end it, just in case you want to relist it, lol!)

I was also unpleasantly surprised at this. I would like the option to edit before I relist, especially where it concerns the extra charges. This was one of the main reasons that I am choosing not to relist my made to order quilts. I feel like I would be throwing good money after bad now.

I hope you both wrote to Craig about this as I don't think the "office" always reads the forum.
Can you relist a lapsed listing as similar and make the changes before going live?

No, Lesley, I haven't at this point.  When I got my "updated" bill this morning and started actually going through it more carefully than before, I was a bit upset to be contacting anyone, lol.  Even hesitated for a long time before I posted, but wanted to see if others had any input about it.

As to using "similar"....seems a bit of a long way around for what should be quite simple.  I have quite a few "ended" listings in the wings but won't be relisting for now. Thanks for suggesting it though.

TimeLapse. After you calm down a bit (and I don't blame you for your reaction!), you do need to contact Craig. There might be something that can be done about this that would be to your benefit (and all of us in the future)! Hugs girl.

This IS a new site and we have to realize we are guinea pigs in many respects. On the other hand, one of the reasons we are here is that Craig listens to us, actually hears us, and in many cases, fixes things immediately. But we do have to tell HIM if we have a problem.

Yes, I noticed this quite awhile ago since I've needed to relist quite a lot of items in the last months.  Sometimes when I have a cluster of listings to renew all at once, I just go ahead and take the chance that some are featured listings and I'll be charged more, but at other times I don't want to spend that extra money and will view each expired listing first to see it I added extra features originally. For those listings, I will choose to use "list similar" with the ability to edit.  It does take more time, but not much more.

ArtYah does have lots of little quirks to work out, but I'm waiting for some of those major upcoming changes/updates to come out before I start to mention these problems to Craig.  But, as Lesley said, these might be easy changes that won't take much programming time.  I wholeheartedly believe that sellers should ALWAYS have complete control over our listings, with editing at any time we wish being part of that.

I'm glad this was brought up as I had no idea this would occur. Good workaround, MicheleMade. Guess this is what I'll do, however, I'll hate to lose the exposure an old listing gains in Google simply to avoid being charged for something I no longer wish to use. Until this is resolved, I won't be opting into any more featured listings.

I did notice this last year, and chose to not relist those items. Often, I don't want to feature an item anymore, and .50 is a lot to pay for a listing that I prefer not to feature. I never paid to feature every product that I listed. For those that I did, often I made better products that more deserved being featured. I didn't report the issue back then because there were more important changes that needed to be made. Others were constantly discussing these critical changes with Craig, which flooded the airwaves or (e-waves), and that issue was not a priority.

I pick and choose which listings to feature. I don't feature every item. Maybe 10 are featured out of my 300+ items. I try to pick ones that are good sellers elsewhere or have pictures that I think are really good. I agree that this needs to be fixed.

How do I relist?  Will I get notified or do I just have to pay attention?

Thanks[smile]

@UniqueChiqueJewelry: Not positive but I seem to remember receiving an e-mail letting me know a listing was expired. I'm just keeping my eye on the expiration dates and will repost them a day or so before they expire.

Because listings expire not on the date but on the HOUR they expire, I am renewing mine all at once the day after I get the messages. Otherwise I have to sign in and renew 3 or 5 times in one day and that is a pain.
