Hi Everyone,

I will try to keep this brief. If you will all take notice, I did not post that last message in the forum because I know that everyone in here supports AY.

Here is what I was trying to accomplish:

A lot of people want to close shop as of the last letter. That is what I requested. People that do not want to support ArtYah, please move on. People that want to see ArtYah grow, wonderful but again we cannot do it by ourselves. We need everyone to pitch in. We need everyone to help build up ArtYah like they did when they joined etsy after leaving ebay.

The last big exodus from etsy occurred when etsy was taking away paypal and forcing sellers to use their payment platform. The amount of people that said they would jump ship, did not happen. People gradually became complacent again.

What ArtYah needs now is for everyone to jump in and build ArtYah into the next etsy.
It will not happen overnight, I understand that. But the direction in which we were going, would also break us financially. That is why I stated that we had spent tons of money.

The pluses and minuses to the letter and the response that i am getting. It will in the end be a good thing. As I stated in a different post. I did not sit down and say, "I am really going to let them have it."

But, I had to let people know where we are and that we need their full support.

I hope everyone understands this and I meant no harm or foul.

Thank you,

Craig

Thanks for all you're doing here!
I have left the other site and am trying my best here, (due to your encouragement - thank you!).
Keeping my fingers crossed for sales!
Pat

I have been trying to help others here on Artyah advertise. I have not listed any more items since mine expired during Hurricane MarΓa but I am considering it πŸ˜‰

I am afraid I still don't understand what it means to support Artyah.  What exactly does that mean?
I have relisted every item as it expires with no sales.  I have donated money on the GoFundMe page.  I bought a license plate holder with "Visit Artyah.Com.  I am not big on social media but have told everyone I know about Artyah.
I have had inquiries on my etsy account about my items and have referred them to Artyah but  they didn't come here and purchase.  My etsy account is in Vacation Mode until I transfer all of my listings here.
I am no longer getting emails about my "ended" items.  I didn't really understand the 5 cent listing deal and it isn't a big thing but I never got it.
More detailed explanations about what is happening would be greatly appreciated.

I hope Craig has a moment or two to answer, but I'll share my thoughts for now. πŸ˜ƒ

I think what Craig means by "supporting ArtYah" is really very simple: be active on the site, even if a little bit.  And for anyone who is no longer interested in having a shop after registering, he would like to know so he can delete the account and not have it take up any server space.  What you've done definitely counts as being supportive and active on the site. πŸ˜ƒ  I know Craig is also worried about the diminishing number of listings on the site, so he'd really like to see everyone continue to relist or list new items as they are able.

It's so tough for smaller sites when so many sellers are waiting to see the success of others before listing their own items, but I also know how hard it is for sellers to keep paying for listings when they don't see much of a return.  It's a bit of a catch-22 situation: we won't be getting much attention from buyers and having many sales until we stock the shelves with a large variety of items, but many sellers aren't willing to stock the shelves until they see other sellers being successful.  I think this causes frustration for ArtYah and all of us who do have active shops.

We should be receiving emails about expired listings again, and if we aren't we'll need to let Craig know.  I have a bunch of items expiring in the next few days so I'll be able to see if the emails are coming in or not.

As far as customers coming from other sites and purchasing here, I've always found my customers to be very set in their ways and only willing to purchase on those sites they are very familiar with.  Once in a blue moon, I'll have someone who is perfectly willing to jump sites and purchase elsewhere, but most request items be listed on the site they always like using.  This is a problem for any smaller and newer marketplaces.  Craig even mentioned once that buyers called him to ask if the site is legitimate or not...so there is that general distrust of new sites that we'll be battling against.  I'm not extremely worried since I've had sales on ArtYah that came from strangers and I also sell a decent number of items on Aftcra, another very small and relatively unknown handmade site.  Some buyers out there are brave! lol

Just wanting to let folks know I still support ArtYah. I have had many medical issues and am now having to move across the country to be near family. I will relist but it may be a bit as I am packing at the moment. Don't count me out yet just not up to par.

I've also had people find my items on AY, then message me through the other site wishing to buy there because it was more familiar to them.  I also have Artfire and Bonanza shops, but sales are very slow there. My hopes are with AY...
It's become clear that the "other" site is no longer viable for me, and I've lost trust with them.  I've unlisted everything and have all but closed permanently. If, by chance, anyone contacts me about buying, I intend on referring them here.
This isn't the most ideal time to leave, (sales usually spike during tax refund season), but, for me , it's a matter of principal. Fortunately I don't depend on sales as a main source of income, and as long as there's an honest and ethical effort here, this is who I support and where I'll do business.

I think Artyah is a brilliant site: it's easy to list items, and the both the layout and design of the site are lovely. I'm happy to list and re-list items, as it's the only site I sell on, and making things is a hobby, for me, not a job, so any sales are a bonus.
My problem is the fact that I am selling from France, and that might put people off, but I have had three sales so far: one each from the UK, Spain and the US.
Keep up the good work!

I think the shops layout is nice too. I especially like the slider at the top. Such a great way to showcase our shops. I don't know of any other venue that offers this feature to sellers. You have a nice shop with lovely handmades! Love your earrings. So feminine and elegant! Faved your shop and pinned the dragonflys earrings to Dragonflys, Dragonflies, Dragonfleis. Continued good luck to you! [smile]

I will continue to support Craig and his work. Let's face it...the respect he gives us in letting us know the latest with the site and the future 2.0 site is refreshing. E gives us the 'ghost in the closet' treatment along with 'tag you're it' in testing and surprise changes in shop format/control. So many of us put up with it because of the traffic they generate.

When the 2.0 site is up and running I will close there and transfer everything to Artyah. Right now, a gal's gotta eat.
