Haven’t had to sign in all day! This is COOL! Now, a few days later, it’s back to the usual having to constantly sign in. Grrr!
Really, it would be so nice to see even one improvement on ArtYah, a little at a time, to give us indication there is progress being made. To have nothing happen in a positive direction for so long makes one wonder what, if anything, is happening.
I know we’ve been told by administration things are in the works, but it would be so encouraging to see even one iota of progress. Under 500 listings on here now. Many people are waiting and wondering if they should even renew or post new listings. You can see their frustration.

I agree,  anything would be better than just sitting around in a waiting mode.... I'm not doing much with my shop for that reason.... I'm not one for spending money when there's no return....

Not signing in would be nice but not crucial compared to other issues. Sad to say I am also letting this shop go. I pay tons on Etsy but get sales...not here.

I am not disappearing from here totally-just letting things expire and not listing new. If I sense a change, I'll be ready but as I've said before, 2 shops I can handle well. Three? Not so much. Of course if there were lots of sales, I'd work it!

Ok. Yes, I think several have this plan, not giving up on AY, but reluctant to go full-steam ahead without first seeing evidence of the new site functionality. It is understandable, at least to me, someone who has been with AY since spring 2016. I hope the new site succeeds with a big bang!

Hi Rozelynn,

There are not going to be any improvements to this existing site. That is not what we are working on. We are working on a brand new platform and will be rolled out all at once. It is taking a long time primarily due to funds. We have spent thousands upon thousands of dollars on the existing site and the new platform. We continue to spend a lot of money on the new platform and also cannot wait until it is ready. Out goal for the new platform is the summertime. We had a little setback due to afamily member passing of one of our programmers.

As for the people that are waiting to post items... We are now down to a paltry 16,000 active listings. This does not give any incentive for a buyer to shop our site. However, we have had more sales on our site with less items as we have done a lot of very expensive advertising in Where Women Create magazine. This has brought a lot of sales to the people that have items listed.

ArtYah will not close, but if we move further into the red, we will be pivoting in a different direction. We cannot support only handmade, much longer. This is the reason that etsy now allows manufacturing.

The bottom line is we must make money in order to survive.

We have been coming out of pocket for so very long and cannot continue to do so. We will be forced to open up our site to manufacturing which again is something that we do not wish to do.

There are hundreds or thousands of posts on the etsy platform from sellers not making sales any longer on ETSY. A site individuals claim that back in the "heyday" they made over $100,000 a year, now making a third or less. I do not know where the frustration should set in for people. Everyone has to promote and to be quite frank about promoting: I do not think that social media is as cracked up as it may have been at one time. I believe the only people making money are the social media sites themselves. We have tried and tried again and again with ad words. No success stories here. I believe that on Face Book people will like something but not click to buy something. I think that is how it is for all online sites.

I hope that answers questions. It was a long read. I hope I was not too far out of line and not intended to be.

Thank you,

Craig

I am showing 484 listings when I browse the site. Where does the 16,000 come in? Does that include variations? Even so, that's a pretty big difference.

Thank you for the update and clarification on a number of things. I hope it all works out well for you. Obviously, you’ve been working very hard. Sad about likely having to allow manufacturing on the new platform. But thanks for letting us know where things stand right now.

I am not sure where you are getting that figure from. We have a tally on our site that shows the amount of overall listings and then active listings.

Overall - 50,000 listings
Active 16,000 listings

People have either listed items in the past and then let them expire, or had uploaded listing and never made them active. Those are the only two possibilities.

Thank you,

Craig

Ok. Maybe it's pages then. Several of us have been thinking that figure is listings. Forgot that the # at the bottom of the page is pages, not individual listings. Maybe some people meant to say pages rather than listings in their comments in other threads.

Yes, the listings are dropping, but I think 16,000 is a lot of listings for where AY is currently.
