I tried 3 Searches: "vintage jewelry", "vintage dress" and "vintage hat".  By page 6 of "vintage jewelry", there are many things completely unrelated to jewelry.  This happens by page 2 of "vintage dress" and on page 1 of "vintage hat".  WHY???  This can't possibly be helpful for customers coming to the site looking for particular items.  I think it would be a big turn-off.  Has it always been this way?  I opened 2 shops with 370 listings a year ago and have had no sales whatsoever.  I'm wondering if this is part of the problem.  I know Artyah is still new(ish) and there's supposed to be a new platform at some point.  Any idea on when and what improvements will be made?  I'm getting discouraged.  I don't like to compare Artyah to Etsy, but I was in on the beginning of Etsy, did quite well, but left over the whole forced EP thing.  Looking for some encouraging info!

I've noticed this also, Vintagerepeats.
I think the first search defaults to the search phrase, such as "vintage jewelry" then later on includes all items with the word "vintage", including clothing and then other items that have "jewelry" in them.
This happens here but I've also seen this happen on the "other" site and even Amazon. So the best placement goes to those items that are an exact match to the search term.
As for not making sales, you are so definitely not alone. Some sellers have established followers but many say as you do.
I've had 7 sales in the year I've been here.
Artyah really needs to get to be known as a shopping destination.

I've never seen Search work like that on other sites, but perhaps I just didn't go through enough pages. If that's what happens, it makes sense that it would happen sooner on Artyah because it's so much smaller.  I'm not ready to throw in the towel yet.  I do wish we had more updates from Craig.  If I'm missing them somehow, please point me in the right direction.  Trying to shrug off the "Negative Nellie" attitude over here.  LOL!  Tomorrow is another day.  😉

I think Craig is aware of the search problems, but quite a long time ago, when they made the decision to create a whole new platform, they decided to put all their money and effort into doing that and didn't plan on making any more changes to the current site.  We're all essentially waiting for the new platform to get our shops really going (hopefully) and it does feel like we're in limbo at the moment, waiting for that time and all the improvements to come.  I believe search is probably the most important feature of any site.  I have left many sites within seconds or minutes after getting incredibly frustrated with horrible searches which lead me farther away from what I wanted instead of closer, or gave me more options instead of narrowing them down for me.  I think ArtYah's new search will determine the fate of this site. I just realized how that sounds. LOL  I don't mean to sound so serious, but I really do think that's the feature on any site that will either win over buyers or lose them forever.

Well, how are people to buy if they can't find what they want, and swiftly, at that? I don't think you sound overly serious at all. I have left sites out of frustration with the search feature, and that resulted in a NON-sale.

^^^I won't stay long a site that search doesn't work.^^^

I am a very patient person.
I can search through pages and pages when looking for something but, if search returns things unrelated to what I want I will
definitely leave and most probably won't go back.
