I have no problem with showing sales. Both Ebay and Etsy show sales. I think many are afraid of people copying your best seller but that is a part of the business world. Some people just are very private. Personally I wouldn't trust a store that doesn't want to show their sales. Besides you can figure out by reviews what is selling. Just like the caller said, I would suspect a scam if no data existed on how successful a site was.

I don't think that is the reason some don't want them shown. I for one would think it will give extra advertising to the ones that are already getting sales when it is the ones with n sales that need the extra advertising.
Just my thoughts

I agree with you completely, Barb. We can have the option to show our sold items in our shop, but to have a click on item from the main page that shows what has sold lately distracts people from browsing in the shops. People tend to follow winners and could end up missing out on other items that just haven't been found yet.

I would vote yes to showing sold items.

If, however, the majority votes 'no,' I would love to have a weekly sales total posted here in the forum for sellers to see.

Thanks!

Great idea, Allison! [smile]

Craig, I have a suggestion. On the other forum we put new items. why not make it a place for new and also a thread for the sold items over there. then we could post our sold items over there for anyone interested to see

Go to any "Etsy Oldtimers" posts, and you will see us all reminisce about that program.

Plus, on Ebay you can see what any seller has sold. And on Etsy, unless a seller has their sales marked private, you can see what they have sold.

So, I don't have a problem with it (that I can think of).

I loved the "tickers" on Etsy that showed "just listed" and "just sold".  As an Etsy seller (former), it encouraged me to do more shopping on Etsy.  And I didn't just go to those shops.  If it was something I was considering buying, I used search to see other options and compare pricing.  I don't know if Artyah is busy enough to do this yet or not.  If it's too soon, I like the idea of having a thread in the forum for sellers to post their sales on a voluntary basis.  Showing sold items in a shop is important, too.

I too believe it important to show sold items in a shop, plus showing our shop names along side the item name and price in the browsing thumbnails. It gets quite frustrating landing in the same shop you have already visited rather than being able to moving along to other new shops and pages to view their wares. After browsing the first few pages, you lose the will to move on and find new shops.

This is very significant, because I too like to explore different shops. I don't like to be sent to the same shop over and over, unless I choose to go there because I know the seller or am familiar with the merchandise. In other words, unless I choose to return to that shop in quick succession.

This goes along with that also, I don't like seeing products shown on the homepage or through search that don't also show the name of the shop. It is frustrating, even though I may be intrigued by the product, to be sent to a shop without knowing where I am going.
  1. Maybe I am seeking to buy from certain sellers as I am browsing.
  2. Maybe there are sellers from whom I don't wish to buy anymore, so I don't want to be sent to those shops unknowingly and then have to backtrack.
  3. It just feels like being in the dark when the shop name is not shown in the thumbnail, because most listing sites include that, even if you have to mouse-over the thumbnail to see it.
  4. It's only fair that our shop names should be shown with our thumbnails, because it's our products and we should get the publicity.

This is very good :-)

I know that a thread was started on what we would like ArtYah 2.0 to feature. I will cut/paste this over there and if anyone has other comments for that page, please be sure to get them in there.

Thank you,

Craig

I know how private some are about showing their past sales. I may not understand it but I don't have to. I personally think it is another wonderful form of advertising. In my other shop I have made sales because of potential buyers viewing those past sales (emails from my buyers prove this).

I've listed everything available I have to sell on both my AY shops.
So far, I've made one small sale here and trying not to get discouraged.
Thanks for all you're doing and for the updates!

I have no objection to showing sold items, but perhaps within each shop.
I'm willing to try anything that might work - just don't want to become like the place I left... :-(
