I haven't added any items yet.....plan to shortly. I need some mentoring!

Can I limit sales to USA only? There has been problems in the past shipping organic materials, and I'd rather just limit my sales to USA only.

I have an Etsy shop with about 125 listings. (also using the shop name: EccentricOldGuy) Has there been any problems with transferring your listings to ArtYah? I guess you have to be very watchful of the sales, so that you don't sell an item twice.....Once on Etsy, and once on ArtYah.

Any special "tips" anyone wants to offer me?

Here is my Etsy shop:

I plan to set it up pretty much in the same manner.

Thank you for any help you wish to offer this ArtYah newbie! [smile]

Hi Kelly
Welcome to Artyah, I deleted the link as this is the Artyah forum and we are trying to build up business here and not send people elsewhere, hope you understand [smile]

Tips, list as many items as you can in the next 30 minutes to take advantage of the half price listing offer

Yes, you can just limit your customers to the US but say you can offer international once the customers have confirmed they can import barkless wooden finished items into their country?

If I only had one item I would never list it in two places at once, incase two people ordered at same time and because I once needed two of something and ordered from two different places only to find it was the same seller, I was VERY disappointed, and irritated as they did not want to cancel the sale.

Yes, I can understand, Christine.......no problem.

All my bowls are one of a kind, so there is only one of each. I talked to Craig on the phone, and he said I'd have to delete the item where it didn't sell. I was wondering if anyone had problems doing that.

Looks like I'm too late for the 1/2 price deal.......that's ok. I did see somewhere where I can transfer my listings from Etsy to ArtYah......where was that? Sorry I'm such a dummy with computers.......I'm now 68, and grew up in a whole different age.

My sales are ok on Etsy, but I wouldn't mind finding another platform. There is a discussion about ArtYah on the Etsy forums (that's how I came to know about it.)......and, quite a few people there seem to like the format on ArtYah......good. There is some disappointment about how Etsy is conducting business, since it became a publicly traded company. In some ways, I'm also feeling a little dissatisfied with the directions Etsy is taking......although, I am steadily increasing my sales there. The motivations are more in increasing the seller base, without regard to maintaining the arts and creative artisan base it was founded on.

Thanks, odie

You have already discovered on of the major reasons so many of us like Artyah - you have spoken to the owner and he is very accessible and responsive.  Sales are gradually building here but to a large extent the sellers need to try and bring customers in if they can.

I think you can export your listings on E and then import them here, I have done all mine one at a time which ensures they are slightly different (which I think Google likes)  than elsewhere

Welcome to the family Kelly!  [wave]

You can import your etsy listings with a etsy CSV file (you don't have to be tech savvy to get this done really!). Go to your Artyah shop, hit Account in upper right hand corner, and then click on Import Listing. But be aware, that ALL you listings from etsy will be transferred to Artyah (not just some of them). Just follow the directions listed.

If you want to just move certain items to Artyah you will have to move them 1 at a time here like Christine explained. And yes, be careful of listing the same item in both shops because you don't want to chance them selling at the same time if item is one of a kind!

There are a LOT of etsy past/present shop owners here! All with the same feelings about them as you! Here, Craig and team treat all us Sellers with so much Respect you will be amazed!

Keep coming to the forum for your questions. We truly all try to help each other.

Thanks Mary.......I'm probably one of your future Alzheimer's patients, I'm half way there anyway! Ha! [crazy]

I do monitor my shop/listings daily, so I'm thinking about taking the chance about listing on two platforms. For awhile, I had a shop on Amazon Handmade, but closed it......didn't care for Amazon very much. I did not run into the problem of selling a bowl twice.....so, never had to deal with it.  In the unlikely event that two sales of the same item happens while on ArtYah, can I assume a sale can be declined here? (This can be done on Etsy, but I never had to do it.) My thought is to offer a nice discount on an alternative item......maybe 25%.....?......if that should ever happen.

I still do wish to only sell to USA buyers.......just too much trouble with customs agents. Some of my wood is purchased unseasoned without any processing.......straight cut from a recently harvested tree, and I do all my own processing, so there is concern there. I think it's best to just not have to deal with those issues anymore.

Thank you for advice, suggestions, whatever........appreciated.

I have my items listen in both places and when I sell one, I just delete it (end early) from the other. No problems yet, but I like your idea of a discount if it is gone. I think any worry about that depends upon what you sell. I sell to U.S. and Canada (a few sales) with never a problem. I moved my items one at a time before we could do it all at once, but I change the first sentence a little to please Google. When you set up, be sure to tell customers that buyers can pay with a credit card through PayPal without having a PayPal account. Welcome and good luck.

Welcome Odie!

I wouldn't list 1 item on other sites if I was selling at all like gang-busters.[smile] I'd duplicate the listing on one of my sites that was less busy, for whatever reason. That way it would be easier to not get orders at the same time from all sites. When you get an order at one shop, you do have to rush to the other site(s) to delete it before another person orders. Many sellers duplicate listings without any problems. The first time that I got a twin order would be it for me. I'd pull all of my dup listings. I'm on sites that are either old and slow or new and slow, so I haven't yet had a problem multi-listing single items. I also have many OOAK items, but many others for which I can produce 2+.

Wishing you luck here and in all of your pursuits! welcome.JPG

Those are the 4 moving photos at the top of the main page for each shop. You can change them as you wish - or not use at all. No extra charge.

OK, thank you everybody for your kind help.

I've decided to list five listings from my Etsy shop.....and, those I've deactivated over there. For the moment, I'm not going to list the same item on two platforms. These are experimental.......if all is good, I'll be listing more later.....

Now, I intend to list these deactivated listings on ArtYah......but, forgive me, but I don't see how to do that. Is there a tutorial on creating a new listing here on ArtYah?

I am such a computer dummy!

Also, if anyone would like to check my shop and see if that will work (so far), I'd appreciate that.......[biggrin]

Thanx......odie

Yes you did just fine with the email address.

In answer to your question of how to list.
Go to your Account in the upper right hand corner,
Click on Sell then just follow the directions. Easy 2 steps to get there.

Went to your shop and looks great! And as you already know, it'll look even better when you're able to get some listings posted. On your Slider Image it's good you put pics of the process and tools you use to create. Great fill in. But as you list be sure and add a few of your product pics too.

You're doing just fine!!!!
