Come on Artyah, don't copy Etsy's "Chunky" and their nasty brown.  There are better fall colors than a giant blob of stuff.

Here's an idea... surround the featured item listings with.... wait for it... paintings of fall that are for sale here.

Be more creative than Etsy's unimaginative "coders".

"Chunky" is not just their term.....it is allover the fashion/home decor industries this fall.  Take a look at Country Living magazine, or Houzz, or Amazon, Pinterest....the list goes on [smile]

My point is that the top of the website looks lifted directly from Etsy.

I get that fashion trends and the stupidity of the internet are always coming up with hot new words such that you have to be in the know to have any idea what it refers to. [rolleyes]

123Gemstones I have to agree with you. I love the rich brown color.  When I first saw it, I thought of warm and cozy.  Not in agreement with "E".  They are an "Ex" now.  :|  Lol

How about editing the title as well as the first message ? [smile]

Why not design a header for the site, and post it in this thread.  We could then show them to Craig, you never know, if he really liked one he might even use it.  I like the idea of adding the shop name to the item so that potential customers can find them easily.

If anyone is going to design a header you might do worse than to start with this new shop that I have just come across https://www.artyah.com/seller/jansbydesign

At least we don't have that vomiting pencil case - made me queasy every time I came across it. [biggrin]

I wish I could code websites.

What I would envision:
The wreath that Christine noted would up there with Fall in the center.  When you hover you'd get pics from that shop and others with that title/tag/tidbit showing up (just pics no text).  Click that fall link and you'd be taken to a page of "fall" items.  Each shop that had a "fall" item would have a "featured" pic with their other items smaller in a surround like halo.  There would only be the shop name below the halo.  No prices no description this is the "pretty" but actively clickable.  Click the pic get taken to the item, click the shop name get taken to the shop.  That way a back button takes you back to the pretty page.

There'd be one for Fall, Halloween, Chunky, etc.  Programmed so that the "featured" item that shows on the main page changes every couple hours.  Ideally the pretty page would have a carousel type functionality so that the shops would also automatically rotate.

Yes there'd be clicking/swiping involved but the idea is that it isn't just a wall of items with descriptions and prices.

Anyway, I know that I've seen bits and pieces of this functionality in other websites.... but not on a marketplace that I know of.
I had hoped to been wowed by the Labor Day sale on that other site with some new/different presentation... but alas no.

From a loading time point of view I am not sure a carousel would work at the top, the more options ie: pictures changing every few hours and lots of links make for a more data/images and visitors these days want things to load fast.  I am guessing that is why the carousel is at the bottom of the page as it has time to load while viewers look at the rest of the page on the way down.  I am not a coder either but I have done some editing (trial and error editing) of coding in the past and it all involves multiple pages these days.  I ended up taking the sliding images off my own site's front page as it is on a shared server which slows things down and the sliders slowed it down even more - this was a shame as I had some pretty ones [biggrin]

Artyah changes its header every few weeks which keeps things fresh.   Those wreath colours are very obviously autumn colours but so pretty.

Personally, I don't like that brown either. I think Joe's ideas have merit and I like the green door, per his sample pics of JansbyDesign .

These are the headers I have used for the ArtYahArt Twitter account so far, the first two were taken from Artyah  (with Craig's permission) and adapted a little and the September current one I was not keen on so created it from scratch.  Just thinking about an October one now when I get time.

1. Painting added to basket

2.  Painted stone and small painting and easel added

I like the Halloween one! .. it does invite you in.. I do think that "what can you discover" needs to be another color.. maybe Orange--as it is hard to read against the moon.

Thanks for your comment, I did start off with orange but then though the same colours looked more "classy and creepy"
What about this version?  The problem with Twitter is that different screens all show it differently
