Have any of you had this problem with your computer. Trying to figure out what it is or if I need a new computer.
When I go to browsing down a page part of the page comes up at a time. I have to stop and wait for the rest to load sometimes more than one time on a page.
When I go to type something in about 3 letters will come up and I have to sit and wait for the rest to show up.
When I go to list something it is very slow about a page coming up like it is suppose to.
This has been going on for about a month or so this time. It did it a while back and I took it to my computer man and he helped it some and it did ok for a while but is back to this again.
It is not the router. that has been checked out and I did the speak easy test and it shows it is as fast as it is supposed to be.
So don't know what is going on except it takes me way ore time to do anything on the computer than it did before
Any ideas?

Yes, it's been happening to me, intermittently, like you described. I have Comcast/Xfinity, and ever since they alerted customers last year that they would be allotting monthly data (but giving each acct far over what would be normally needed each month {Yeah, right!}), I've been having these problems too much. The length of time of the problem(s) depends on what it is. Sometimes it goes on for weeks, sometimes for days, but couple of yrs ago there were rarely any problems. Something changed about a year ago and it has never been the same.

As you said, sometimes it takes so long to get a task done that I get frustrated. I get up and do something else, and when I come back it is ok.

Just yesterday I had to deal with that problem of having to wait for my typing to show up in the window, as you described. This morning part of pages was loading, and that part was even taking an excessive amount of time to load. So for me, the problems seem to be coming from my ISP, internet service provider. I think that they are controlling and throttling and piecing out the service now, in a way that they have not been honest about.

So be careful about hiring someone to look over your computer. They would have to be really honest to not charge you and tell you that it probably is your ISP service, and that they cannot do anything about that. Otherwise, they would charge you and lead you to believe that they did you a big service in fixing some non-existent issues. Then you end up with the same problem.

I will be getting rid of Comcast and cable period in the near future, and never going back. It used to be great for Internet, but the bill has climbed up to way too much for all of the continuous problems now. There are so many more ways to get good Internet service now, without relying on a cable bill.

I have had that same problem here lately.  I am on Hughes satellite. I found that if I clear all my cookies and caches it seems to go faster. It also depends on what time of the day I am trying to list, if I am doing it at the "peak" hours it does this if I wait until later in the night or early in the morning it is faster.
I had the computer guy out and he said: " I can't find anything wrong with your computer, must be your service."  What a waste of $ that was.

That's what I was saying to Barb. You lucked out with a service person who was honest and did not string you along for more $$$.

Hughes is expensive, but the only available internet for some, especially in the mountains and far out in the country in many areas.

Taking the time of day into account, weekends when more people are off work, holidays, etc., I understand the problems. Am used to that. Unfortunately, I can tell that Comcast has/is doing something to save/net them money that has significantly reduced the quality of service. I am so tired of them and will be ecstatic to be rid of them and never return to cable. Going to antenna TV. Love all of the new digital channels with the old programs, channels that can't be had with cable. I'm old enough to enjoy many of them.

SuddenLink sounds like a local service, which is fine if you liked their service.

Many services now have a small modem (often wireless) that you buy and that's all. Monthly service is much lower than cable and other services.

Search Google for local ISP or internet providers in your town, area or state.

FreedomPop has internet, free (not much data per month though) and low cost, where you buy one of their modems (they're always running specials cutting modem prices in 1/2). I've had FreedomPop for years but modem lies idle since I have Xfinity. I use it for backup, 500 free mbps per month. Couple times on Pinterest and FBook and it's just about used up though, but it's something. I can add $10 more data if I need it.

Ting, with whom I have my phone service for almost a year, very low cost and you pay for what you use basically. They have low-cost internet service.

Viasat is advertising heavily on TV now and showing very low prices, like $35-50 and below for standard svc. They say if you can see them in the commercial you can get the service, so don't know if they are advertising in your area. Just went to their site to get the link for you and they seem to be satellite. If so, they are a cutting edge new type of technology maybe that provides economical service, because satellite has always been way too expensive for most people.

I had the same problem but I had a computer guy who used to work for the FBI come over and work on it. He only charged me 50 dollars for over 2 hours of work. He told me that my brand new computer with a touch screen that I bought from Dell didn’t have a fast enough processor. It was also running Windows 10 which I hate. All of my listing is done on my ipad where I take my photos, edit them and list them quickly in all one place. About a month ago I saw an ad in the local news that someone was selling a MacBook Pro for 300 dollars. It was the first one but she said her granddaughter bought it, used it a few times and then put it back in the box and it has been sitting in the closet ever since. I told her that I had the Dell that I hated and before I could get it out of my mouth she said do you want to trade. She said they loved Windows and was happy to have it. Not as happy as I was to get the 2000 dollar iMac that has never been used. It didnt take me 15 minutes to go home, back to her house and do an even trade. I am an Apple person because they are almost idiot proof. I was an RN for 20 years and other than a few basic things we had to use the computer for I avoided it. I had bought the kids a souped out computer for Easter one year but between the four of them I never got a chance to get near one. I knew the basics because I had to use Windows to write papers and get through my bachelors degree. When I got my first iPad it was like I had been a little kid who first saw Disney Land. My eyes were wide open as I was amazed at all that was available to me. Not only that but a monkey can figure out how to use an iPad. Granted I have learned a lot more since I have been using one for the past 5 years. It’s capabilities are boundless. My favorite part is that the camera is so good that I can take my listing photos, edit them and list without having to ever change computers. No downloading to the computer from a camera. If you wanted to use a better camera you could because now they have a device that plugs into the port and you can download your pics from any camera simply by putting the memory card into the device. Cost 15 bucks and no set up just plug in and there are all your pics. Plus the iPad is so much quicker than the computer. I was also told by Craig that some search engines work better with the site than others. Can’t use Bing because it loses all of your info when you close the page and go back to it. I use Google Chrome. Comcast Xfintiy shouldn’t be the problem since they just upgrade speed to 100mbs. Have you unplugged your router, turned off all of your devices and plug the router back in again and bring up your system. That is the instructions they gave when they upgraded the speed. Try that and see if it helps. Where I live I have always had a good experience with technical support and them trying to help me. Just a thought.

Not sure if you're talking to me or Barb, but I'm the one who talked about Xfinity, so I'm responding.[smile] My son is a gamer and the modem is at his computer. He regularly does everything that can be done to keep our speed up.

Xfinity used to be unlimited, and there is a reason that they started doling out the data, to save and make them big $$$ at the expense of the customer. There's a big difference between unlimited and allotted. Not to mention the big difference between what companies tell you they're doing in order to keep your patronage ~vs~ what they keep from you in order to keep your patronage that makes a big difference. Ever since they started the monthly data allotment program, service has been different, not as good. That's on them.

Yes they increased to 100mbps, but that doesn't mean that it put the service back to where it was when it was good. Aside from what may be my computer or the weather or whatever, they made a big change, and it made a big difference in the quality of their internet service. And I hate calling them and avoid that as much as possible. Often it takes forever to get someone on the phone, and often I am passed from one person to another, and often what they say is repetitive and useless. Comcast is not beloved by the majority of their customers, but I'm glad you've had a good experience.

ArtsyCrafteryStudio. I told you I don’t know much about computers but you have taught me something that I did need to know. I was just trying to be helpful but as I stated I knew very little about computers. I did get a notice last year that they were going to allot the data amount from Comcast which worried me as well. They said it would be enough that it should not cause a problem. I am on the ipad most of the day so I didn’t notice any overage charges yet. I did notice though that ever since I shut off my computer and the modem my internet has actually been slower than it had been before I supposable was to receive faster internet. I was going to call them but the last time I did it went on for days. I got one story from one person switched and on an on. I was supposed to be receiving HD with my TV but when I would set it to HD it would say to call Comcast to add it to my plan. I called several times and was given a different story by different people. One person said that they couldn’t turn it on because I needed an upgraded box. It was a 2 week ordeal until the solution was so simple that it could have been taken care of by one call for 2 minutes if I would have been given the correct information to begin with. That was my only experience that things went crazy but the other times I received good customer service. I am seasonal because I live in Fl but go up North for the summer. They have been able to manage that. I cut them off the first time I had them and swore I would never go back. They could not get my bill straight to save their lives. Every month it was a different story and round about. When I came back I started researching the best TV and internet for the money. Up north I have spectrum and other than them raising their prices since they bought out time warner I have not had a problem with them. There is no contract. Where I live here there are only two decent choices: Century Link or Comcast. Century link is outrageous and they only have DSL. My parents have them and the internet drops a signal all of the time. They are continually raising my parents bill. Now they are thinking of switching to comcast. I only have the 120 channels with comcast so I am not a big TV watcher. The internet I spend way too much time than I should online. I have been noticing lately since the speed was supposed to pick up it has been slower loading web pages. On the other hand if I go to my MacBook Pro right next to the router it is very quick. I don’t rent their router and own my own which is a very good router. I paid a good price for it initially but it has paid for itself in the long run and gives me the satisfaction of not having to rent equipment. As far as having a son who plays video games I feel for you. My son grew up on the first Nintendo and it turned him into a raging maniac when he was 6. I soon learned that I had to put limits on that. On the other hand it was a great grounding punishment and kept him on the straight and narrow. Of course he is 32 now and has his own house and pays his own bills. Back when I was raising him there were no online games just the discs. I never saw anything as ridiculous as beating the same game over and over again and getting mad when you don’t beat the level. I bet that eats the heck out of your data. Fortunately my son is now married, working and has a child to raise. He doesn’t have much time to play video games anymore but believe you me everytime his wife and little girl are going to visit her mother the first thing he takes out is his Xbox. I think some habits never die. I still don’t like Windows but that is a personal preference and you have taught me that the system has nothing to do with the speed of the internet.
