This information has been updated. I added a new comment further down in the thread. Here is the update I posted:

Here is the answer from Pinterest admin. #5 is the answer I was seeking:

I'm Nidia, a member of the Pinterest expert community, and a fellow pinner.
Here is what Pinterest says about an archived board:

1. It won't show up on your public profile.
2. You can find it on your profile, in the "Archived boards" section below your secret boards
3. We'll stop showing you recommendations related to the archived board
4. You won't be able to save Pins to a board while it's archived
5. If it's a group board, other members will still be able to see and save Pins to it (even if you're the owner)
6. You can unarchive the board anytime
Please let me know if I may be of further assistance.

Have a nice day,
Nidia 😉

I apologize to anyone who stopped pinning to the AY Pinterest boards because of my erroneous info. [frown] I make a special apology to @Dix Sterling, to whom I first shared my experience. I was sharing what I did and did not want any of you to waste your time, because we crafters have so little of it. Thanks to @Life During Wartime for sharing her experience, which led to me contacting Pinterest admin for clarification.

Have a nice Wednesday everyone! [smile]

FYI

I discovered and confirmed that these 2 AY Pinterest boards have been archived by their owners, and will no longer show your pins to the public:

The Best Of Artyah!

Find Us On Artyah!

Pinning to them is useless.

I just checked both boards.  The Best of Artyah! comes up blank, but Find Us on Artyah! displayed for me just fine.

Pinterest itself is flakey in my experience.  Sometimes I can't view my own boards for a week or more, then my access comes back.

I have sent Pinterest this msg to get clarification on this issue:

Hello:

When a group board owner archives the group board, can it still be seen by the public? I assumed that it could not, and that continuing to pin to it as a member is useless. because the pins can no longer be seen. I received an email alert that the owner of one of my group boards had archived it. I stopped pinning there and archived it myself.

I need this info to share with one of my craft forums.

Thanks for your help,
Sandi

Hopefully, we'll get an answer soon.

Yes, they do seem to be whittling away.  Just last year I had six different ArtYah boards I was using, but now I'm not sure if most of them are seen or not.  I have received notifications in the last few months that some users have pinned or saved my pins from some of the boards, I think specifically Find Us on Artyah, so I hope that one is still "alive". (:

I get re-pin notices from Pinterest from the Find Us On Artyah board at least once or twice a week.

I noticed that. I am glad that some were not aware of my erroneous info and kept pinning.

So glad you got my msg/found this post. It seems like efforts are making less of a difference now. I do believe in marketing, but we each have to plug away at what we have the most faith in. Where we feel confident in placing that faith seems to shift more often now too.

The Best of Artyah has 986 pins, as of 1p, 5/30/18 I was the one who last pinned. This board is listed under my Secret Boards at my Pinterest profile. It is owned by Artists' Union. I am going to make a new comment below about this.

Find Us On Artyah has 670 pins, as of 1p, 5/30/18 MicheleMade was the one who last pinned.

I just saw something interesting at my Pinterest profile boards. The Best of Artyah board, which is owned by Artists' Union, is in my Secret Boards, along with all of the boards that I own and made secret. I can't bring it out to my public boards, which is where it was when I was invited to it and accepted the invite. I think that is what happened when I originally sounded the alarm. Artists' Union changed her board to Secret, not Archived. That must have been what my email alert was about. Below I have copied info from Pinterest Help, about Secret Boards operation. But we all should already know that Secret Boards can only be seen by us, whether we created them, or it is a group board. They show at the bottom of our profiles, grouped with each other under the heading Secret Boards.

The Best of Artyah board has been made Secret by the owner.

Find Us On Artyah board has been Archived by the owner.

I have a lot of boards that are secret.
The reason is I use them for things that I don't want anyone else seeing.

If I ever had a board that I had others pinning to I would delete the board if I didn't want it any longer.

Which is my point in sharing what I'm learning. None of us have time to be sharing to a place that the public cannot see. It's misleading when WE can see the board, but the board is invisible to Pinterest. I don't want to share to a board where the 5 active pinners see my pins and that is all.

I too would do what you say, or inform my board members if I want to keep the board and make it secret for the time being. Well, at least we're all learning what we need to know now. We can move on.

I'm going to leave the secret board group. The archived one I'll stay in for now.
